Chairman Senate address at the Waris Mir Foundation Seminar — Reflections on Pakistan’s Military and Diplomatic Victories and Global Recognition
Lahore : Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, while addressing a dignified seminar organized by the Waris Mir Foundation titled “Global Impact of Pakistan’s Military and Diplomatic Victories over India”, said that Pakistan, through courage, wisdom, and national unity in difficult circumstances, not only defended its sovereignty but also projected to the world its true image of peace, resilience, and diplomacy.
He stated that following the Pahalgam incident, Pakistan once again exposed India’s false propaganda and aggressive posture before the world. In response, Pakistan pursued two simultaneous paths — a resolute defense of national sovereignty and the exercise of restraint to prevent any escalation. He highlighted that the Pakistan Armed Forces demonstrated exemplary professionalism and operational readiness, proving that courage and strategy can prevail over numerical and technological superiority.
The Chairman Senate said that Pakistan chose the path of peace by offering dialogue and calling for an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident, while India’s intransigence stood exposed before the international community. Pakistan defended itself with dignity while simultaneously proving its genuine desire for peace.
Acknowledging the role of Parliament, he said the House, through unanimous resolutions, stood firmly with the Armed Forces and effectively presented Pakistan’s stance to the global community. He termed the international outreach led by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his parliamentary delegation a significant success. He also commended the media for countering Indian propaganda by presenting facts before the world.
Highlighting diplomatic achievements, he said that Pakistan secured strong support from brotherly Islamic countries, regional partners, and major global powers including China, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States. He referred to President Donald Trump’s positive statements and high-level engagements as a sign of a new phase in Pakistan–U.S. relations. He added that Pakistan’s election as a member of the UN Security Council for the term 2024–2026 was living proof of the global community’s trust.
The Chairman Senate stressed that peace and stability are the foundation of prosperity. Recent economic indicators reflect improvements in foreign investment and balance of payments, which must be sustained through continued reforms, trade, and investment.
He emphasized that timely and accurate information, institutional coordination, and parliamentary diplomacy should remain integral to Pakistan’s policy. On this occasion, he announced that Pakistan will host the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) in Islamabad this November, with participation from more than 45 Speakers and heads of international parliamentary organizations. He termed it a vital opportunity for Pakistan to showcase its democracy, resilience, and development potential to the world.
Concluding his address, the Chairman Senate paid rich tribute to Pakistan’s Armed Forces, political leadership, diplomats, and parliamentary delegations. Quoting Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, he said that democracy, justice, and the rule of law are the only guarantees of lasting peace. “Let us draw lessons from our national unity, take inspiration from our achievements, and build a Pakistan that is safe, dignified, prosperous, and just for every citizen.”
