PAA marks first year with key achievements and bold plans

Karachi : Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) marked the completion of its first year with celebratory events at its Headquarters and other airports across the country. The main ceremony was attended by Deputy Director General (Works & Development) Sumair Saeed, directors, officers, and a large number of staff members.

In his address,  Saeed said that while the organization is on the right track, the road ahead is long and requires sustained effort. “Aviation demands constant improvement and innovation, and we are committed to aligning Pakistan’s airports with global standards,” he noted.

Over the past year, PAA operationalized the Greenfield Gwadar International Airport, advanced the expansion of the terminal building at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, and made significant progress on the runway upgradation at Jinnah International Airport Karachi. Rehabilitation of Turbat Airport and widening of the runway at D. G. Khan Airport are also underway.

Future projects include completion of Lahore terminal expansion, finalization of Karachi runway upgradation, construction of a new control tower at Karachi Airport, a new Air Traffic Control tower and fire station at Skardu Airport, feasibility studies for modern RNP-AR navigation systems at Chitral, Gilgit, and Skardu airports, feasibility studies for new airports at Dera Ismail Khan, Sukkur, and Mirpur, and upgrading D. G. Khan Airport for larger aircraft.
Additionally, automated e-Gates, sustainable energy systems, smart building automation systems, electric vehicles, and charging stations will be introduced at major airports.

PAA leadership reaffirms commitment to make Pakistan’s airports safer, environmentally sustainable, and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in line with international standards.
