Pakistan Committed to Strengthening Ties with Nepal, Gilani

and Rt. Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal

Geneva :  Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, held a bilateral meeting with Rt. Devraj Ghimire, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The two parliamentary leaders reaffirmed the warm and cordial relations between Pakistan and Nepal, rooted in mutual respect, shared regional interests, and strong people-to-people connections.
Chairman Senate emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its multifaceted partnership with Nepal, particularly in the areas of parliamentary diplomacy, trade, education, tourism, and cultural exchange. Both leaders underscored the importance of  dialogue and cooperation for promoting peace and inclusive development. Both sides expressed support for collaborative efforts to address climate change, disaster resilience, and sustainable development goals.
Devraj Ghimire appreciated Pakistan for providing scholarships to Nepalese students for studying at distinguished institutions in Pakistan. The Speaker emphasized that such educational linkages promote people to people contacts and establish long term relationship.
The Chairman of the Senate extended an invitation to Devraj Ghimire to attend the Speakers Conference, scheduled to take place in Islamabad from November 11-12, which he graciously accepted.
