AIOU and IOU form strategic partnership in Islamic higher education

Islamabad :– World-renowned Islamic scholar and Chancellor of the International Open University (The Gambia), Dr. Bilal Philips, paid a special visit to Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) along with his team. On this occasion, a formal ceremony was held during which both institutions agreed to enhance mutual cooperation in the fields of Islamic higher education, research, and academic exchange.
The ceremony was presided over by Prof Dr Shah Mohyuddin Hashmi, Dean of the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, who warmly welcomed the guests and gave a detailed briefing on AIOU’s academic, research, and international activities. He expressed a strong desire to initiate joint programs with the International Open University in Islamic education, research, faculty exchange, and student exchange programs.
Dr. Zahid Majeed, Director of Collaboration and Exchange, highlighted the university’s modern educational infrastructure, its ongoing global collaborations, and various initiatives aimed at promoting education and student welfare.
Dr. Bilal Philips appreciated the university’s efforts and particularly emphasized the need for joint research and academic partnerships in areas such as Islamic psychology, Islamic banking, and finance. He stated that partnerships among educational institutions in the Muslim world are vital for intellectual growth, scholarly guidance, and the unity of the Ummah.
This meeting is expected to mark a significant milestone in the promotion of Islamic education, international cooperation, and global research. It will play a vital role not only in the academic domain but also in socio-intellectual development.
