Islamabad (GNP): Ethiopian Ambassador Dr Oumer H. Oba received Dr Raheel Qamar, Rector of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), at the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad for a traditional coffee ceremony.
The Rector and his team came to the embassy after the Ambassador’s recent meeting with COMSATS leadership at the CUI campus. Over coffee, the two sides considered how to build on those discussions, which had covered student and faculty exchanges, joint research in science and technology, and collaboration in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
The Ambassador suggested starting with faculty exchanges, which could later grow into joint research and publications in scientific and technological areas.
He also told the Rector about Ethiopia’s tourism, culture and history, including the story of coffee, which began in Ethiopia and has become an everyday ritual that brings its people together.
Dr Qamar invited Ethiopian universities to visit Pakistan and work with COMSATS toward shared prosperity, in the spirit of South-South Cooperation.
