Indonesia Opens 13th Sharia Economic Festival in Jakarta

Jakarta (GNP): Indonesia has opened the 13th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center, placing the country’s Islamic economy and finance sector at the centre of national attention. The event began on 14 October and runs until 18 October.

This year’s festival carries the theme “Accelerating Sustainable Economic and Financial Growth through Synergy and Digital Transformation.” According to Bank Indonesia, it brings together more than 1,000 halal industry players and features over 100 activities.

Business leaders, financial institutions, government agencies, academics and international partners are taking part. Their presence reflects how far the sector now extends beyond banking. It covers halal food, modest fashion, Muslim-friendly tourism, financing, zakat, waqf and the digital economy.

Indonesia comes to the event with a strong international standing. The State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2025/2026 ranks the country fourth overall in the global Islamic economy. It places Indonesia first in modest fashion and third in halal food.

The programme is built to turn that standing into commercial results. Exhibitions, business-matching sessions, industry forums and financing discussions give businesses a chance to meet prospective buyers, find partners and approach potential funders.

This year’s edition also links with Trade Expo Indonesia 2026, which connects the promotion of the Islamic economy with wider trade activity.

Participants and organisers now have five days to turn that exposure into partnerships, with the digital transformation theme shaping how the sector plans to grow.
