PTA Inspects 115 Telecom Sites to Improve Mobile Services

ISLAMABAD (GNP): Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is stepping up on-the-ground monitoring of mobile network infrastructure nationwide, with the aim of improving service quality, coverage and availability. Between 30 September and 7 October 2026, teams from PTA’s zonal offices inspected a total of 115 telecom sites in different parts of the country.

Lahore accounted for the largest share with 39 sites, followed by Karachi with 17 and Sukkur with 16. Multan and Rawalpindi each had 14, Quetta 8, Abbottabad 4 and Gilgit 3.

Inspectors evaluated network performance, the quality of voice and data services, coverage levels and whether backup power arrangements were in place. PTA said service quality has improved in several of the inspected areas.

The exercise targeted problems that affect consumers directly, such as failed call connections, dropped calls, slow mobile internet and gaps in coverage. Teams also went through consumer feedback and complaints to understand the difficulties people face. PTA is additionally engaging local administrations, elected representatives and community members to help pinpoint and resolve service issues in their areas.

Where faults or technical shortcomings are found at sites and towers, the mobile operators concerned are instructed to take corrective action, with the goal of fixing the problems and securing lasting improvements in network performance.

PTA said it will continue to tighten regulatory oversight, track operator performance and ensure that consumer concerns are identified and addressed promptly, so that mobile services across Pakistan become more reliable, higher in quality and more widely available.
