Islamabad (GNP): Pakistan’s Information Ministry on Friday rejected claims by the Taliban regime that a Pakistani post near the Spin Boldak border had been destroyed, describing the assertion as fake and fabricated.
The ministry said Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defence had falsely claimed that a Pakistani post was destroyed and that Afghan forces suffered no casualties, while dismissing Pakistan’s own account of the incident as propaganda.
According to the ministry, an attempted Afghan aggression in the Gulistan sector was thwarted on the night between 24 and 25 September, during which at least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed and several others injured in the process of repelling the attack and inflicting subsequent punishment on opposing Taliban posts.
The ministry said the incident had already been widely covered by media and circulated extensively across social media, providing visual evidence of the border engagement and the response to what it called a cowardly attack by Afghan Taliban forces.
It further stated that the Taliban’s fabricated claims came as no surprise, describing the group as habitual liars with no moral or reputational standing.
The exchange follows a broader escalation along the border. Pakistan conducted precision aerial and drone strikes on 10 locations across Afghanistan on Thursday, in retaliation for drones launched from Afghan territory a day earlier.
That response came after eight drones entered Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan near the Torkham border and Kohat on Wednesday, with security sources confirming the drones were subsequently shot down.
Afghan Taliban forces had also opened unprovoked fire near Kurram the previous night, as Pakistani security forces foiled an attempt by terrorists to cross into the country.
This pattern of cross-border hostility follows earlier action on 21 September, when Pakistan carried out calibrated airstrikes in Afghanistan’s border region in response to recent terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, targeting hideouts and safe havens of terrorist organisations.
The Information Ministry had said on Monday that Afghanistan’s continued role as a base for terrorism was a matter of grave concern, adding that the threat to Pakistan continues to emanate from Afghan territory.

Those strikes followed a major attack on the old Police Lines in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which killed 23 people and injured around 100 others, with eight terrorists killed during an overnight clearance operation to secure the area.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar described Monday’s action as part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, Ghazab lil-Haq.
Earlier this week, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar addressed a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, calling for concrete and verifiable action to prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against any neighbouring country, particularly Pakistan.
Dar said Pakistan remained seriously concerned about the presence of more than two dozen terrorist groups in Afghanistan that threatened regional and international peace and security.
Pakistan’s Information Ministry said, “The Taliban are habitual liars having no moral and reputational standing.”
