Istanbul (GNP): Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their shared resolve to work together under the Makkah Agreement framework to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
According to a joint statement issued in Istanbul following a meeting of the three countries’ Foreign and Defence Ministers under the Strategic Political and Defence Committee established by the agreement.
The three nations pledged to continue supporting de-escalation and restraint in order to encourage peaceful resolution of ongoing crises, and agreed to take further steps toward institutionalizing their cooperation under the Makkah Agreement — strengthening their collective solidarity, reinforcing the credibility and effectiveness of joint deterrence and defence, and contributing to broader regional efforts toward a just, inclusive and lasting peace.
The statement also announced plans to establish a secretariat in Saudi Arabia, led by a Secretary-General, to support the trilateral framework’s work. A Pakistani official will head the secretariat for its first three years.
The three countries further committed to strengthening their defence capabilities and military cohesion through deeper cooperation in defence industries, joint technology development and production. Through consistent and structured implementation of the Makkah Agreement, the three nations said they aim to make meaningful contributions to regional peace and security.
Separately, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a series of high-level meetings in Istanbul during his official visit to Türkiye.
According to the ISPR, he held individual meetings with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler, and Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, with discussions covering matters of shared interest, bilateral defence cooperation and the broader regional security landscape.
