Karachi (GNP): As the global Plastic Free July campaign concluded, Zong, a leading technology services provider in Pakistan, teamed up with WWF Pakistan and Integrated Waste Management Solution (ISPES) to organize a coastal clean-up drive at Hawksbay, Karachi, marking the end of the month-long initiative.
The event brought together Zong employees, volunteers, and environmental advocates in a joint effort to combat plastic pollution, protect coastal ecosystems, and promote responsible waste management through community participation.
Zong’s Sustainability Commitment
The clean-up reflects Zong’s broader effort to integrate environmental sustainability into its business operations through practical initiatives focused on responsible resource use and conservation. The activity aimed to raise awareness about marine pollution while highlighting the value of collaborative, multi-stakeholder efforts in preserving Pakistan’s coastline for future generations.
Waste Management Process
To ensure the collected waste was managed responsibly, ISPES transported the materials for sorting and processing, with recyclable plastics sent to its upcycling facility to support circular economy practices and reduce landfill waste. This structured approach allowed the initiative to generate meaningful environmental impact beyond the clean-up itself, converting collected waste into usable resources while reinforcing sustainable resource management principles.
