The helicopter, operated by Saudi oil giant Aramco, went down on Sunday morning at around 6 a.m. local time (0300 GMT). Saudi state media reported that the cause of the crash remained unknown and that authorities had launched a full investigation. Aramco had only resumed crude oil loading operations at its Ras Tanura terminal the previous Friday, after a halt of nearly four months. The company did not respond to requests for comment.
Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, has been moving to ramp up shipments alongside other Middle East producers following an interim agreement that paused hostilities between the United States and Iran.
