U.S. Embassy Marks 250 Years of American Freedom

Islamabad (GNP): U.S. Mission in Pakistan hosted a landmark celebration dubbed “Freedom 250,” commemorating two and a half centuries of American independence while honoring nearly eight decades of bilateral relations between the United States and Pakistan. The gathering brought together senior diplomats, government officials, business leaders, civil society representatives, academics, and cultural figures — a turnout that itself spoke to the depth and breadth of the ties binding the two nations.

The event forms part of a year-long series of celebrations building toward America’s 250th anniversary, and the evening served as a vivid testament to the multidimensional partnership between Washington and Islamabad — one grounded in shared interests, mutual respect, and a forward-looking commitment to security and prosperity for both peoples.

Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker delivered the keynote address, reflecting on the profound meaning of the Freedom 250 milestone — not merely as a marker in American history, but as an occasion to celebrate the values of liberty, democracy, and partnership that continue to connect the United States and Pakistan.

Drawing on America’s founding principles, she spoke to their enduring resonance across the world and their relevance to the relationship between the two countries.

“Tonight, we celebrate 250 years of American freedom, nearly 80 years of friendship between our two peoples, and everything we are going to build together in the years ahead,” she said. “The best is not behind us. It is in front of us, and we are going to get there together.”

The celebration featured a presentation of Colors by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, performances of both the Pakistani and American national anthems, and musical sets by the U.S. Air Force Central Command Band alongside Pakistani artist Bilal Saeed.

The night culminated in a dazzling fireworks display over the Islamabad skyline, a fitting tribute to America’s 250th birthday and a symbolic gesture toward the shared future both nations are working to build.

Launched by President Trump under the banner “A New Era of American Greatness,” the initiative has carried the spirit of the occasion to every corner of the globe through U.S. embassies and consulates.
