Islamabad (GNP): European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and other senior officials.
Welcoming the EU’s top diplomat, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s strong desire to deepen its wide-ranging partnership with the European Union.
He conveyed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of the 8th EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue held earlier the same day, reaffirming Islamabad’s resolve to expand cooperation across multiple domains, including trade and investment, climate action, security, migration, sustainable development, and regional connectivity.
The Prime Minister specifically underscored the significance of the GSP+ trade framework in bolstering economic ties between the two sides and credited it as a key driver of the growing bilateral trade relationship.

Regional and global developments also featured prominently in the discussions. The Prime Minister acknowledged the EU’s backing for Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in the Gulf region, noting that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir were at the forefront of those peace initiatives.
He urged the international community, including the EU, to pursue a unified approach toward achieving durable stability in the region.

The Prime Minister also briefed the EU High Representative on Pakistan’s assessment of developments in South Asia and Afghanistan. He extended warm regards to EU Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, renewing his invitation to both leaders for an official visit to Pakistan.
In her remarks, High Representative Kallas commended Pakistan’s constructive contributions to regional peace and underlined the EU’s keen interest in advancing its strategic partnership with Islamabad.
