CDA overlooks consultation with key stakeholder, Secretary Union

Emergency Meeting of the CDA Mazdoor Union Supreme Council

Islamabad :  The issues related to the allotment of plots for CDA employees have yet to be implemented, following the decision of the Islamabad High Court. As a result, there is growing unrest among workers. In addition to this, other issues such as sanitation, water supply, CDA hospital, and privatization of various departments including the Parliament House Directorate, the regularization of contract/ temporary employees, the quota for recruitment of employees’ children in contract-based appointments, and all other matters need to be resolved on a priority basis.

These views were expressed by Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, General Secretary of CDA Mazdoor Union, during his address at the emergency meeting of the Union’s Supreme Council. The meeting was attended by central officials, representatives, and hundreds of employees. He stated, “We became the CBA under IRA-2012, and for the fifth time, employees elected us. However, the CDA administration is undermining the legitimacy of the CBA and refusing to recognize our mandate.”

He continued, “We have always promoted a policy of reconciliation and negotiation, but this should not be perceived as a weakness. The current attitude of the CDA administration during this democratic government is unacceptable. The CDA administration is not ensuring consultation with the largest stakeholder, the CDA Mazdoor Union.”

On this occasion, we demand that the Chairman of CDA and the administration immediately engage in negotiations with the CBA Union to resolve all outstanding issues. These include the approval of Eid allowances for all employees and officers without discrimination as per the agreement with the CDA Mazdoor Union, promotions, pending summaries for employees, regularization of contract employees, implementation of the recruitment quota for employees’ children in light of the Supreme Court’s decision, preventing deputation of officers to CDA, and addressing other critical issues.
