Islamabad (GNP) :- A formal dinner was hosted by Hiba Fawad Chaudhry in honour of the President of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation SAARC, Chandi Raj Dhakal. The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar along with other distinguished guests.
The gathering took place in a cordial and welcoming atmosphere, where guests were warmly received and engaged in meaningful discussions on matters of mutual interest.
On the occasion, the Deputy Chairman Senate emphasized the need for SAARC to play a more active and effective role in addressing regional and global challenges. He noted that given the evolving situation in the region and across the world, such platforms must be revitalized to promote peace, stability, and cooperation.
He highlighted that rising global tensions, particularly between the United States and Iran, remain a serious concern, and stressed that SAARC should contribute constructively towards de-escalation efforts. He further stated that the world is in dire need of peace, and Pakistan’s leadership is making consistent political and strategic efforts to promote stability and harmony.
The Deputy Chairman Senate observed that Pakistan’s efforts have contributed to facilitating ceasefire and dialogue, including encouraging engagement between the United States and Iran after decades, expressing hope that these efforts will lead to lasting peace and meaningful outcomes.
He urged SAARC member states to support Pakistan’s initiatives and work collectively towards addressing regional and international challenges.
He also underscored the importance of reviving the SAARC process, which has remained largely dormant since 2016, and called upon member countries, particularly India, to move beyond rigid postures and contribute positively towards regional peace and cooperation.
The event concluded with a shared understanding that such engagements play an important role in strengthening regional ties and fostering mutual cooperation.
