PSB Saves Rs. 81.2 Million in Quaid-e-Azam Games

Islamabad: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has saved Rs. 81.2 million from the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games, which were held after a seven-year gap.

According to a PSB spokesperson, Rs. 311.7 million were allocated for the event, but Rs. 218.7 million were actually spent. These savings were made possible through a fully transparent procurement process. For the first time in the board’s history, all tenders were uploaded to both the PPRA and PSB websites and processed electronically through the e-Pakistan Procurement (ePP) portal. This strict adherence to PPRA regulations ensured an open and fair bidding process that received zero complaints.

To support participation from across the country, PSB disbursed Rs. 41.9 million to provincial and regional sports boards for related expenses. Punjab received Rs. 5.66 million, Sindh Rs. 8.77 million, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs. 5.02 million, Balochistan Rs. 7.92 million, Gilgit-Baltistan Rs. 7.35 million, Azad Jammu & Kashmir Rs. 3.79 million, and Islamabad Rs. 3.54 million.

In addition, Rs160.5 million were spent at the Islamabad Sports Complex for the core execution of the event including accommodation, meals, and local transportation, as well as inter-city travel and logistics for 2,725 atheletes and technical officials as well as allied arrangements including cash prizes. Moreover, Rs16 30 million were utilised for the procurement of sports equipment and sports gear for various sports competitions durimg the six days event.

The PSB credited this successful event execution and substantial financial saving—equivalent to 26% of the allocated budget—to transparent e-tendering and strict fiscal discipline.
