Islamabad, 10 May 2023 (GNP): Former finance minster and Secretary-General of PTI Asad Umar was arrested from Islamabad High Court, the same court’s premises from where Imran Khan was arrested a day earlier.
Asad Umar was arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) from outside of the Bar room in the IHC where he was preparing a plea with other PTI leader seeking a meeting with the PTI chairman Imran Khan. There are two cases registered against the former finance minister.
According to the reports, PTI lawyers tried to prevent his arrest and fought with the police, but they were overpowered.

According to the video message of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the police also tried arresting him, but PTI lawyers and other party workers successfully prevented his arrest.
In response to the arrest of another prominent figure of PTI, party leader Shireen Mazari protested on Twitter, saying that Asad was arrested by “Anti-terror squad from IHC.”
“Seems IHC area has become a fertile ground to illegally arrest PTI leaders,” she continued.
