The Standing Committee on Industries and Production, in its meeting, discussed the matter of non-delivery of Proton Cars within the stipulated time frame to its 488 customers. The Committee formulated a mediation Committee; consisting of CEO, Engineering Development Board (EDB) along-with three members of the Standing Committee namely, Ms. Naz Baloch, MNA, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, MNA, Muhammad Iqbal Muhammad Khan, MNA, and CEO of the Proton Cars Company with the direction to sit together so that matters will be resolved in public interest, and its report be submitted before the next meeting.
The Committee appreciated the briefing given by the representative of Pak Suzuki Motors. However, emphasized that it should prioritize localization and develop a testing facility through a joint venture with the Government of Pakistan. The Committee also directed EDB to submit a report on the quality standards in collaboration with Pak Suzuki Motors.
During the Meeting, a member drew the attention of the Committee to non-releasing of salaries to the six women employees of USC till date despite the direction of the Committee to release salaries to the said employee on humanitarian grounds immediately, and further directed that package announced under the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) for USC’ employees should be released within a week, with the report to the Committee.
The MNAs, namely Mr. Sajid Mehdi, Ms. Kiran Imran Dar, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, Mr. Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Ms. Naz Baloch, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Khan, and the Additional Secretary M/o Industries & Production, besides other senior officials of the ministry and its attached departments, attended the meeting.
