
RAWALPINDI: The Director General, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Kinza Murtaza, visited the Banth Rawalpindi Interchange of the Ring Road Project and conducted a detailed review of the ongoing development works. During the visit, officers of RDA and NESPAK briefed her on the progress achieved so far and the project’s design features.
While discussing the design of the service road connecting the Banth Interchange of the Ring Road with the National Highway, along with other project related matters, the DG RDA stated that the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) Project has entered its final phase and will be inaugurated soon, as work is progressing rapidly.
She further informed that comprehensive land use planning is being prepared for an area up to 500 meters on both sides of the RRR, aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the city and promoting balanced urban development. Under this integrated planning, economic zones, Medical City, Tourism City, Expo Centre, Dry Port, industrial zones, transport terminals, wholesale markets, residential areas, agroforest parks, general bus stand, fruit and vegetable market, grain market, and other essential facilities will be developed.
Terming the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project a revolutionary step for the city’s development, the DG RDA Kinza Murtaza said that upon completion, the project will usher in a new era of employment opportunities and economic growth in the region. She added that, in line with the directions of the Chief Minister Punjab, the project is being aligned with modern requirements to ensure benefits for surrounding landowners, create new job opportunities, and provide citizens with a clean, healthy, and safe environment.
She expressed confidence that the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project will prove to be a milestone, particularly for the development of the city’s southwestern areas.
