Islamabad: Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC), through the CITES Management Authority of Pakistan, has allocated the trophy hunting quotas for the 2025–26 season based on verified population surveys and scientific evidence, marking a major step toward transparent and evidence-based wildlife governance in Pakistan.
Pakistan is a signatory to both the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and remains committed to ensuring full compliance with its international obligations through sustainable and science-driven conservation practices.
The trophy hunting quota for the 2025–26 season has been allocated for the following species: Markhor, Himalayan ibex, Sindh ibex, Blandford’s urial, Punjab urial, blue sheep, and Kennion gazelle. The allocations are consistent with internationally accepted sustainable-use principles and reflect careful review of population data submitted by provincial wildlife departments.
Under the leadership of Honourable Minister Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, the Ministry has streamlined the quota allocation process to enhance transparency, accountability, and evidence-based decision making, ensuring that conservation decisions are grounded in credible scientific data rather than administrative precedent.
The Ministry is further striving to strengthen and standardize wildlife survey methodologies across the country to generate more robust and reliable population data. These efforts aim to support sound conservation outcomes that benefit both wildlife populations and the local communities living in coexistence with these species, reinforcing community-based conservation as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s wildlife management framework.
This initiative underscores Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable wildlife use, international conservation compliance, and inclusive conservation models that balance ecological integrity with socio-economic benefits.
