NA Speaker Pays Surprise Visit to Parliament Lodges

Reviews Progress on Long-Delayed Additional 104 Family Suites Project

Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid a surprise visit to the Parliament Lodges today to inspect the ongoing construction of the 104 additional family suites and servant quarters, a project that had remained stalled for many years.
The Speaker was briefed in detail about the current status of the project, which was originally initiated in 2011 and scheduled for completion in 2013, but faced unprecedented delays due to the negligence and inefficiency of the CDA and the contractor.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq took special interest in reviving this long-pending initiative and formally requested the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to allocate funds for its immediate resumption. Subsequently, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif directed the Ministry of Finance to release the required funds. The Ministry released the necessary financial resources to restart the long-delayed construction work.
During the visit, the Speaker instructed the CDA officials and project team to ensure timely completion and to maintain the highest standards of construction quality, emphasizing that no compromise would be acceptable in this regard.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq noted that the prolonged delay in the construction of additional family suites has caused significant accommodation challenges for Members of Parliament. He reiterated his commitment to resolving this long-standing issue on a priority basis.
The CDA assured the Speaker that the additional family suites and servant quarters project will be completed by June 2026, as per the revised schedule.
With the Speaker’s keen supervision, persistent follow-up, and direct oversight, the pending project for over a decade has now entered its final stages of completion.
