Pasoori, year’s most streamed song on Spotify

Pasoori is a Pakistani song, sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, and produced by Coke Studio; it surpasses BTS’s "Butter” on Spotify

Karachi, 15 December 2022 (GNP): Sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, and produced by Coke Studio, Pasoori has topped the Spotify charts and become the most streamed song of 2022, locally and internationally.

The song, released on 6th February, has managed to grab the top spot on Spotify charts and earned the title of the most played Pakistani song of the year, even surpassing the track of the world-wide famous K-pop boy group BTS’s “Butter.”
Originally written and composed by Ali Sethi and Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, it quickly became viral a short time after its release. It garnered a huge amount of views on YouTube and initiated a trend worldwide with its catchy rhythm, lyrics, and aesthetics in the music video hence termed by Spotify Statistics as the “most streamed song of 2022”.

It has not only managed to grab the most plays on Spotify but on YouTube as well since it is about to reach almost 500 million views. It’s evident that it has been listened to by a large audience and made its impact on people by casting a magic spell ever since it was released.

Ali Sethi himself has shared his views about his song becoming a global hit as he stated, “Pasoori has surpassed expectations, overcome prejudices, and broken so many records. I am so proud of Pasoori for achieving these
milestones while fully incorporating its message of inclusion.” Shae Gill, thrilled upon hearing about her song, commented, “A huge achievement for Pakistan and something that we all can be proud of.”

The song was played at every event, used in every reel, sung at every get-together, and streamed in the series “Ms.Marvel.” It was also used in a reel by Britney Spears; later, it was sung by Arijit Singh at a concert. It continues to be streamed, and there are chances it will achieve more titles in the future.
