2nd upset to Argentine; 1st is Messi’s Last World Cup

Lusail, 22 November 2022 (GNP): One of the biggest upset to Argentina and surprise to the Fifa World Cup is brought by Saudi Arabia after defeating Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

Saudi Arabia pulled off one of the biggest World Cup game by defeating Argentina (2-1) in Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

The Saudis recorded their largest victory thanks to goals from Saudi football players, Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari, in a five-minute period early in the second half.

The game reminds people of the 1990 World Cup, when Cameroon defeated reigning champions Argentina 1-0.

Argentina was on track to break Italy’s record- 37-match undefeated streak- after the erratic Messi scored Argentina’s opening goal in his fifth and last World Cup by stroking in a penalty in the 10th minute.

Moreover, the 2022 World Cup goalkeeper with the most saves in a single game so far is Saudi Goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais, who made five saves against Argentina.

Despite a vigorous Saudi defense, Argentina was secure before the break. However, the second half of the game saw a significant shift.
