RDA Seals Site Office of Illegal Housing Scheme Anchorage Islamabad Phase-II, Stops Inaugural Ceremony.
RAWALPINDI: On the directions of the Commissioner Rawalpindi and Director General RDA, Engineer Aamer Khattak, RDA is taking actions against illegal housing schemes.
The Director Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) RDA in an operation sealed site office of illegal Housing Scheme Anchorage Islamabad Phase-II and Stoped its inaugural ceremony. RDA also issued show cause notices to the Director of this housing scheme and a marketing company namely the Skyways Marketing / Xpress Marketing Pvt. Ltd. served for the illegal advertisement / marketing on the social media of above mentioned illegal housing scheme at Mouza Thalian, Tehsil and District Rawalpindi.
The violations include, illegal booking of plots, unauthorized advertisement and marketing through marketing companies, installation of billboards at various locations and commencement of development work prior to formal approval.
RDA has clarified that under Section 34 of the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, such offences are cognizable and punishable with imprisonment up to three years, or a fine up to 10,000 per day. In addition, further fines may be imposed for each day the violation continues after conviction.
The Authority further stated that daily penalties may also be imposed depending upon the size of the scheme, ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 per day.
The DG RDA has taken notice and warned the general public to avoid illegal housing schemes and not to get involved in the scam of any illegal housing society and don’t be fooled.
Therefore, RDA advises general public in their own interest that they should not make any investment in illegal housing schemes.
Moreover, the sponsors are also warned immediately to stop the marketing of their unapproved / illegal housing scheme and should contact RDA for getting NOC / approval of the scheme as per law, otherwise, strict legal action will be taken against them.
RDA Spokesman said RDA in letters with request/information to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad, Cyber Crime Islamabad, SNGPL Islamabad, about illegal advertisements of private housing schemes on social media, WhatsApp, YouTube and other apps of internet facility. The owners / developers wrongly spoke bluntly that they got NOC from the RDA.
The DG RDA has directed the MP&TE Directorate RDA to take strict action against illegal / unauthorized housing schemes, commercial activities, booking offices and encroachments without any fear and favour, he added.
