Colombo Suggested for Pakistan-India World Cup Clash

Islamabad : Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, requesting Pakistan to play the World Cup match against India in Colombo.

Sri Lankan President recalled with pride how Pakistan supported Sri Lankan cricket when Sri Lanka was worst hit by terrorism.

He said Pakistan prioritized its long-standing relations with Sri Lanka above everything and the Pakistani cricket team continued to tour Sri Lanka despite terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the sentiments of the Sri Lankan President and acknowledged that Sri Lanka also extended full support to Pakistan in difficult times, including playing cricket here.

Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that Cricket Sri Lanka took a momentous decision for the Pakistani nation and especially cricket fans in Pakistan by not canceling its recent tour of Pakistan.

Prime Minister apprised the Sri Lankan President that final decision to play Pakistan-India match of T20 World Cup in Colombo will be taken after consultations.
