US envoy highlights business role in KP growth, education

Peshawar : U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Natalie A. Baker visited Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to highlight how U.S. businesses uplift local communities and how greater U.S.-Pakistan economic cooperation can unlock KP’s full potential to drive shared growth, opportunities, and prosperity.

CDA Baker officially inaugurated the new KFC restaurant in Nowshera and visited the new KFC-supported Deaf Reach School to highlight American businesses’ commitment to corporate social responsibility. Since 2014, KFC has helped Pakistan’s deaf community by providing education, training, and jobs for young people across Pakistan. This partnership exemplifies how U.S. businesses expand opportunity and economic impact. The Deaf Reach Schools are run by the NGO Family Education Services Foundation, established by the American philanthropists Richard Geary and Heidi Gustanski-Geary.
“Today’s opening is a model for how American brands, working with Pakistani partners, contribute directly to local economic growth,” said CDA Baker. “KFC’s support for initiatives such as Deaf Reach Schools demonstrates that responsible businesses improve lives and expand opportunity.”

CDA Baker added that deeper economic cooperation creates tangible benefits for Americans and Pakistanis. To date over 80 U.S. companies have invested in Pakistan, directly employing 120,000 Pakistani workers and indirectly supporting one million more workers.

CDA Baker’s visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa underscored the enduring U.S. commitment to deepening U.S.-Pakistan collaboration in trade and bilateral investment for the benefit of both our nations.
