Islamabad :- Pakistan and Japan have signed an agreement amounting to eighteen point six two million dollars for uplift of children’s healthcare facilities in South Punjab.
The signing ceremony between the Governments of Pakistan and Japan under the project titled “Improvement of Child Health Care Facilities in South Punjab” was held at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Secretary Ministry of Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Akamatsu Shuichi signed and exchanged the documents on behalf of their respective governments.
Under the agreement, the Government of Japan has approved an amount of 18.62 million dollars approximately for the project through JICA under the Japanese Grant-in-Aid.
The project is to strengthen the diagnostic and treatment systems in the Children Hospital and The Institute of Child Health Multan.
It will also improve the function as an only specialized tertiary care hospital in the region through the expansion of the facility and the provision of medical equipment which are necessary to provide the healthcare services for high-risk neonates, infants and children with serious illness or injuries.
It will contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services for children in the southern Punjab and adjacent provinces as well.
In his remarks, the Ambassador of Japan assured the commitment of his government to work closely with the government of Pakistan to further strengthen the friendly ties and bilateral cooperation.
