Islamabad : Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), in collaboration with Secours Islamique France (SIF), organized special puppet shows and panel discussions for 900 marginalized and orphan children and their mothers.
The initiative is part of an ongoing program launched in 2021 to raise awareness on child protection, cybercrime, mental health, gender equality, and education for all.
Using puppetry as an effective communication tool, PNCA conveyed important messages regarding the rights and responsibilities of children and parents, safe use of digital devices, prevention of abuse, and the importance of sharing concerns with elders. The performances also emphasized equal educational opportunities for girls and boys and the role of parents in safeguarding children’s mental and physical well-being.
The National Puppet Theatre presented impactful stories including “Meena Ki Kahani,” “Roshni Ka Naya Sawera,” and “Babu Aur Pappu,” highlighting themes of girls’ education, protection from abuse, saying “No” to strangers, and cyber safety. Popular puppet hosts Kiran and Ali actively engaged with children to reinforce these messages in an interactive manner.
The program received an encouraging response and wide appreciation from the audience. PNCA continues to promote puppetry as a powerful medium for social awareness and invites public and private sector organizations—particularly those working in education, health, social welfare, and child and women’s rights—to collaborate in building a safer, informed, and responsible society.
