OIC-COMSTECH announces Research Grants for Young Women from OIC Member States

Islamabad:  OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) has announced the award of Young Women Research Grants to 19 successful researchers from OIC member states, including Malaysia, Benin, Mauritania, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt, and Uzbekistan, under the COMSTECH Research Grant Program for Young Women Researchers 2025–26.

The initiative aims to promote scientific excellence, strengthen indigenous research capacity, and support young researchers in OIC member states by providing financial assistance for innovative and impactful research projects. Each selected researcher will receive a grant ranging between USD 5,000 and USD 7,000, which may be utilized for purchasing scientific equipment, consumables, minor research tools, and specialized literature.

The grants were awarded following a transparent and rigorous peer-review process, with proposals evaluated by independent external experts. A total of 690 research proposals were received from across OIC member states, reflecting strong regional interest and competitiveness. After thorough evaluation, the most meritorious proposals were shortlisted and selected for funding.

Congratulating the awardees, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, extended his warm felicitations to the successful women  researchers. He emphasized that COMSTECH remains committed to empowering young scientists, particularly women researchers, by creating opportunities that enhance research excellence and contribute to sustainable development within the OIC region. He encouraged the grant recipients to pursue their research with dedication and innovation, ensuring meaningful scientific outcomes for their respective countries.

The COMSTECH Young Research Grant Program is part of ongoing efforts to foster collaboration, reduce brain drain, and strengthen the scientific ecosystem across OIC member states.
