
Islamabad: Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Shamshad Akhtar, terming her passing an irreparable loss for the country.
In his condolence message, the Chairman Senate said that Shamshad Akhtar was an exceptionally intelligent, capable, and compassionate woman who rendered invaluable services for the strengthening, stability, and progress of Pakistan’s national economy. He noted that her contributions to economic governance and financial reforms will always be remembered with great respect.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that during her tenure as Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, as well as while serving in other key national and international assignments, Shamshad Akhtar played a pivotal role in formulating sound economic policies in close coordination with the government. Her professionalism, integrity, and visionary leadership, he added, set high standards in public service.
The Chairman Senate remarked that Shamshad Akhtar’s name will remain a shining chapter in Pakistan’s economic history, and her services will continue to inspire future generations.
Expressing heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani prayed that Allah Almighty grant them strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss. He also prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
