Japan-Kazakhstan consistently support each other on matters of peace, nuclear disarmament, President Tokayev

President met with Members of the Japan-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, held a meeting with members of the Japan–Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by Toshiaki Endo.

President highly praised the activities of the Group, noting that he views it as an important mechanism for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

“Our country attaches great importance to further expanding comprehensive interaction with Tokyo. Inter-parliamentary dialogue is developing actively, and contacts at various levels are regular. Trade, economic, and investment relations are growing dynamically. Japan is among Kazakhstan’s largest investors. Last year, bilateral trade reached USD 2 billion, accounting for more than 70% of Japan’s total trade with Central Asian countries. Joint projects are being implemented in transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, and other sectors. Today, during my meeting with His Majesty Emperor Naruhito, we discussed prospects for cooperation in the medical field and in addressing water-related issues. I am confident that our relations have a great future. Our cultural and humanitarian ties have deep roots. We cooperate closely in education, science, culture, arts, sports, and tourism. This year, within the framework of the World Expo in Osaka, we marked the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Qunanbayuly,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

President emphasized the shared positions of Kazakhstan and Japan on key global issues.

“We consistently support each other on matters of peace and nuclear disarmament, both within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations. Kazakhstan attaches special importance to the ‘Central Asia – Japan’ Summit, which serves as an important mechanism for interregional cooperation. During the upcoming meeting with Prime Minister Ms. Sanae Takaichi, a number of issues are planned to be discussed. These negotiations are intended to deepen political dialogue and intensify economic and humanitarian contacts. I am convinced that our peoples will continue to achieve new successes, and that mutually beneficial relations will only grow stronger,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated.
