National unity against terrorism is imperative, Gilani

Message of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on the Anniversary of Army Public School Peshawar Tragedy

Islamabad : Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, in his special message on the anniversary of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar tragedy, said that great sacrifices of the innocent students and teachers who were martyred in this horrific incident can never be forgotten. He stated that December 16, 2014, was a day of immense grief, pain, and trial for Pakistan, which plunged the entire nation into deep sorrow and mourning.

The Chairman Senate said that the martyrs of APS Peshawar laid down their lives for knowledge, peace, and humanity, strengthening the nation’s unwavering resolve, unity, and courage against terrorism. He added that despite the passage of years, the pain of this tragedy remains fresh in the hearts of every Pakistani, and the nation continues to feel these wounds deeply.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the APS tragedy made it clear that national unity, mutual harmony, and collective struggle are indispensable for success in the fight against terrorism. He noted that armed forces and security institutions, with support of the nation, have made unparalleled sacrifices in combating terrorism and have achieved significant successes for the peace and stability of the country.

He said that even today, hostile elements are making nefarious attempts to undermine peace in the country; however, their conspiracies are being foiled.

The Chairman Senate said that terrorists deserve no leniency and that the national resolve against terrorism is stronger than ever. He reaffirmed the commitment that the state of Pakistan will continue its struggle until the complete eradication of terrorism, and that forces hostile to peace cannot place obstacles in the path of Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.
