National Registration Exam for Foreign Medical, Dental Graduates on Dec 14

Islamabad : National Registration Examination (NRE) for foreign medical and dental graduates is going to be conducted across major regional centers nationwide.
The NRE examination will be held, on 14th December 2025. The NRE examination will be conducted by the National University of Medical Sciences, Rawalpindi (NUMS) as per PM&DC policy.
According to data, a total of 7,076 medical and dental graduates have registered with PM&DC and will appear in the examination scheduled for tomorrow. This includes 6,989 medical graduates and 87 dental graduates.
As per statement issued by PM&DC, the examination will be conducted at four venues across the country. A total of 2,358 medical and 43 dental candidates will appear in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, 499 medical and 4 dental candidates in Karachi, 3,562 medical and 30 dental candidates in Lahore, and 570 medical and 10 dental candidates in Peshawar.
These candidates are foreign-qualified graduates aspiring to obtain medical and dental licensure in Pakistan who have obtained degrees from different parts of the world. As per PM&DC policy, no foreign graduate is eligible for provisional or permanent registration or practice independently until they qualify this examination under the law. PM&DC has consistently ensured a transparent, standardized, and internationally aligned examination system to assess the professional competence of returning graduates.
Candidates who will successfully clear both steps of the NRE will be issued registration certificates, in accordance with the relevant provisions of law.
All preparations for the examination have been completed. Candidates are required to report to their respective examination centers latest by 10:00 a.m., while the examination will commence at 12:00 p.m. Any candidate found violating the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will be barred from appearing in the examination.
PM&DC has further advised parents intending to send their children abroad for medical or dental education to ensure enrollment only in recognized, accredited, and PM&DC-approved medical and dental institutions, in strict compliance with PM&DC policies. Non-compliance with PM&DC policies in this regard may result in consequences for prospective candidates.
PM&DC has also strongly advised parents and students seeking admission abroad to exercise utmost caution and refrain from enrolling in substandard or poor quality medical and dental colleges, particularly in the noble profession of healthcare, which is directly entrusted with the human lives. Parents are urged to recognize that choosing unrecognized or low-standard institutions not only places their children’s professional future at risk but also results in the waste of hard earned financial resources and the irretrievable loss of their children’s precious time and years of effort. PM&DC emphasizes that responsible educational choices today are essential to safeguarding both the integrity of the medical profession and the future of aspiring healthcare professionals.
