Sudan’s Health Ministry delegation visits ICCI

Sudanese Health Ministry Seeks Broad Cooperation in Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies

Islamabad : A five-member high-level delegation from Sudan’s Ministry of Health, led by Ali Babikir Seid Ahmed, Federal Secretary and Secretary General of the National Medicines & Poisons Board visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to explore avenues of collaboration in pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and manufacturing.

In his welcome address, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep regard for its brotherly ties with Sudan, appreciating Sudan’s keen interest in building strong cooperation with Pakistan in the health sector. He briefed the delegation on ICCI’s pivotal role as the leading representative body of the federal capital, committed to promoting trade and investment by fostering a conducive environment for ease of doing business.

He highlighted the export strength of the region in pharmaceuticals, IT, mines and minerals, pink salt, gemstones, and marble, stressing that enhanced cooperation in these sectors would yield mutual benefit for both countries. He assured the guests that ICCI is fully ready to deepen its institutional linkages with Sudanese chambers, adding that regular delegation exchanges would play a vital role in connecting the business communities of both nations.

Sharing their perspective, the Sudanese officials outlined the challenges currently confronting Sudan’s health sector. They also briefed ICCI on a comprehensive five-year strategic framework developed by Sudan, consisting of around 45 key projects aimed at health system improvement. The delegation expressed interest in potential cooperation in medical equipment and technology supply, revival of solar energy solutions for healthcare facilities, and broader institutional collaboration.
