
Orientation Meeting of Senate Strategic Planning and Organizing Committee (SPOC) Held
Islamabad — Orientation Meeting of the Senate Strategic Planning and Organizing Committee (SPOC) was held at the Project Development Unit (PDU), C-Block.
The meeting was attended by Senator Jam Saifullah Khan, Senator Musadik Masood Malik, Senator Bushra Anjum Butt, and Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan as members, while Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani and Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti participated as special invitees. Mary Cummins, Team Lead, and former Senator Mohsin Khan Laghari, Advisor to Mustehkam Parlimaan (MuP), along with their team, also attended.
Rida Qazi, Advisor to the Chairman Senate on Special Initiatives, highlighted the vision of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani to strengthen the Senate of Pakistan as a key pillar of parliamentary democracy. Mary Cummins reiterated the European Union’s commitment to supporting democratic institutions and lauded the Chairman’s leadership in promoting parliamentary capacity building through the MuP project.
Consultants of MuP briefed the committee on previous national and international initiatives for parliamentary strengthening and shared progress made through consultations within the Senate Secretariat.
Senator Musadik Masood Malik stressed the need for a clear, data-driven, and results-oriented Strategic Plan, urging stakeholders to play an active role and ensure clarity and operational precision in objectives for effective outcomes.
Former Senator Mohsin Khan Laghari and other members emphasized that a robust Strategic Plan would serve as a flagship framework to strengthen parliamentary functions and address administrative challenges.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to hold a consultative workshop for further deliberation and finalization of the Strategic Plan for the Senate of Pakistan.
