
DG RDA Kinza Murtaza Chairs Special Meeting on Comprehensive Land Use Planning for RRR Project
RAWALPINDI: A special meeting was held at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Conference Room which was chaired by the Director General RDA, Kinza Murtaza, regarding the Working Group on Comprehensive Land Use Planning along both sides, 500 meters each of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) Project.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on developing a holistic planning framework aimed at decongesting Rawalpindi city and facilitating the establishment of economic zones, medical city, tourism city, expo center, dry port, industrial zones, transport terminals, wholesale markets, neighborhoods, agro-forest park, general bus stand, fruit and vegetable market, grain market, and other designated land uses as per calculated demand along the Ring Road corridor.
Speaking on the occasion, DG RDA Kinza Murtaza highlighted the transformative impact of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project. She stated that the initiative would not only ease traffic congestion in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad but also provide a clean, healthy, and safe environment for their residents.
She added that this development would boost the regional economy, generate new employment opportunities, and improve urban facilities for the public. She assured that construction work on the project will be completed soon.
The DG emphasized the importance of sustainable and well-coordinated urban planning to ensure long-term economic growth and environmental protection in the region.
Dr. Shahid Mahmud, Senior Advisor OIC COMSTECH, lauded the initiative, terming it a long-awaited need of the twin cities, and shared valuable insights during the discussion. He emphasized that the project would act as a catalyst for development, particularly promoting the south-western expansion of Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, Dr. Zahra from MMP gave a detailed presentation on the proposed land use plan and development strategies.
The meeting was attended by representatives from various departments, including Lt. Col. Nair Mahmood, Deuty Project Director RRR, Mansoor Ahamd Khan, Additional Director General RDA, Muhammd Tahir Meo, Chief Planner RDA, RCCI, EPA, PSIC, RWMC, DRTA, FWO, and other relevant stakeholders.
At the conclusion, DG RDA Kinza Murtaza thanked all the participants for their valuable contributions and directed them to conduct further studies and submit detailed recommendations.
