
Islamabad,; The Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR) convened a meeting with representatives from the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) to explore avenues for joint collaboration aimed at improving the lives of children across Pakistan, particularly in vulnerable and underserved regions.
The meeting began with opening and welcome remarks by the Convenor of PCCR, Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, followed by introductions of the participating Members of the National Assembly, including Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Zeb Jaffar, Farah Naz Akbar, Zehra Wadood Fatemi, and Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, as well as officials from the Secretariat: Syed Hazik Bukhari, Iffat Pervaz, and Syed Arslan Kazmi.
The PPAF delegation included Arshad Rashid (Chief Programmes), Zahid Hussain (Head of Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning), and Raabiya Babar (Manager – Media & Communications).
During the meeting, the PPAF team delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the organization’s ongoing initiatives in education, health, and nutrition for children in affected districts of Pakistan. The participants engaged in an in-depth discussion on the root causes of poverty and explored strategic approaches to enhance child welfare and protection through collaborative efforts.
Both sides expressed a strong commitment to working together in areas of mutual interest, including expanding access to quality education, improving child nutrition, and strengthening community resilience.
The PCCR also shared its recent efforts in establishing Child Rights Caucuses across Pakistan, noting that similar initiatives are planned in Balochistan in partnership with PPAF to further institutionalize child protection mechanisms at the provincial level.
