Pak, Malaysia enhance collaboration in tech, agriculture, and investment

Kuala Lumpur, Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce was accompanying Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his visit to Malaysia.

During the visit, the Federal Minister for Commerce hosted Pakistan-Malaysia Business and Investment Conference. On the margin of the Conference, the Federal Minister received curtesy calls from the leading Malaysian companies.

The Federal Minister received a courtesy call by the delegation of Amazon Web Services (AWS). The delegation expressed their keen interest in strengthening start up ecosystem in Pakistan. They also highlighted the possible visit of AWS leadership to Pakistan to further deepen cooperation, explore investment opportunities and support digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

The delegation of Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) briefed the Federal Minister on the Associations’ achievement and underlined their keen interest in collaboration with Pakistan in semiconductor software design. The Federal Minister for Commerce invited the MSIA leadership to visit Pakistan.

Dr. Chua and Tan Sri Kamarulzaman Founder and Advisor GWG- a Malaysian company with expertise in agricultural research in his meeting with the Federal Minister offered collaboration in seed technology to improve yields per hectare and R & D collaboration with Pakistani counterpart. The Federal Minister appreciated their offer and assured of his full support.

The Federal Minister also met with Tommy Yeah Head of Regional Operations Ant Group (an affiliate company of AliBaba Group with investments in Pakistan “Easypaisa”). Tommy expressed commitment to explore areas for future investments in fintech sector in Pakistan.

The Federal Minister’s productive and meaningful engagement with the Malaysian companies is expected to pave the way for new bilateral projects, capacity-building initiatives and knowledge exchange programs that will benefit both Pakistan and Malaysia.
