NDMA leads national efforts on disaster preparedness and resilience, Magsi

NDMA Commemorates National Resilience Day, Expresses Solidarity with Victims of Past Disasters

Islamabad  : National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) commemorated National Resilience Day with a solemn ceremony held at the Auditorium, NDMA Headquarters, Islamabad. The observance marked the remembrance of the tragic October 8, earthquake, paying rich tribute to its martyrs and victims, as well as to those affected by all natural and man-made disasters across Pakistan.

The event reflected the nation’s solidarity with disaster-affected communities and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to building resilience and preparedness against future hazards.

Special messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were broadcasted during the ceremony. Both leaders paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs and victims of the 2005 earthquake and other disasters, acknowledging the strength, courage, and perseverance of the Pakistani people. They also lauded the services of volunteers and the Armed Forces for their dedication and sacrifices in saving lives and supporting communities during calamities.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology,  Khalid Hussain Magsi, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, he commended NDMA’s leadership in advancing the national vision of disaster preparedness and resilience through coordination, planning, and technological innovation.

Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, presented Pakistan’s National Resilience Vision, underscoring the Authority’s strategic shift from reactive disaster response to proactive risk management. He reaffirmed NDMA’s resolve to strengthen early warning systems, community preparedness, and institutional coordination to mitigate future disaster risks.

Chairman NDMA paid tribute to the martyrs and affectees of the 2005 earthquake and all other national disasters, acknowledging their sacrifices as a solemn reminder of the importance of unity and preparedness. He also appreciated the volunteers, humanitarian workers, and Pakistan’s Armed Forces for their selfless commitment and life-saving efforts during emergencies.

The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to continue efforts for a safer, sustainable, and resilient Pakistan, honoring the memory of those lost while strengthening national resolve to protect future generations
