Islamabad – On the call of Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, protest demonstrations were held in various cities across northern Punjab and other parts of the country against the Israeli attack on the Global Samood Flotilla, to express solidarity with Gaza and to denounce the Trump peace plan. The protests were led and addressed by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab, Dr. Tariq Saleem, along with other provincial and district leaders. On the occasion, a resolution was presented condemning the Israeli aggression, support for Gaza, and rejecting the Trump peace plan.
Addressing a large gathering after prayers in Gujrat, Dr. Tariq Saleem strongly denounced the “cowardly and brutal” attack by Israeli forces on the flotilla and the arrest of its participants, terming it “state terrorism under U.S. patronage.” He said Israel was committing war crimes and blatantly violating international laws, with American support. “The stopping of the Global Samood Flotilla carrying relief supplies for besieged Gazans, and the arrest of Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and others, is a heinous act of fascism,” Dr. Saleem said. “Such barbarity has shamed even the memories of Hulagu and Genghis Khan.”
He added that global demonstrations in support of Palestine and Hamas reflect a worldwide referendum against U.S. and Israeli policies, and are undeniable proof of public outrage. He criticized the inaction of Muslim rulers, stressing that now is the time to unite and take a firm stand against “anti-Muslim and anti-human” policies of America and Israel.
Highlighting the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, Dr. Tariq Saleem said Palestinians are facing famine, starvation, and bloodshed, with children suffering the worst atrocities. He urged the Government of Pakistan to press the United Nations and the OIC to ensure the immediate release and safe return of those detained from the flotilla. He emphasized that supporting Palestine is not just the responsibility of Palestinians, but of all humanity. “Israel’s aggression is not only a violation of international laws, but a slap in the face of peaceful humanity,” he said.
