Descon Oxychem and LUMS Collaborate to Advance Pakistan’s R&D Ecosystem

Islamabad — Descon Oxychem Ltd. (DOL), one of Pakistan’s leading chemical companies, has signed a strategic agreement with LUMS’ Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering to launch a fully funded R&D initiative. The collaboration will focus on developing advanced materials for DOL’s future industrial applications, marking a milestone in industry–academia partnership and local innovation.

The ceremony was graced by LUMS leadership, including Vice Chancellor Ali Cheema, Provost Tariq Jadoon, and Dean Dr. Walther Schwarzacher, alongside faculty from Chemical Engineering. The partnership embodies a shared commitment to innovation, talent development, and impactful R&D for academia and industry alike.

Speaking on the occasion, Yasir Siddique Sheikh, CEO of Descon Oxychem Ltd., said
