Islamabad – 2nd RISJA Inter Media Cricket Tournament witnessed commanding performances on Sunday as Dunya News and Dawn News secured emphatic victories in their respective group matches at the National Cricket Ground.
In the Group A clash, GEO News, after winning the toss, opted to bat and posted 122-5 in 15 overs. Adil Billa scored 31 off 14 balls, Hamid Mir made 30, and Hassam contributed 29 off 23 deliveries. For Dunya News, Inayat (1-14) and Maazzam (1-21) bowled economically to maintain pressure.
Chasing 123, Dunya News reached 125-2 in just 12 overs. Imran Ali starred with a brilliant 74 off 45 balls, complemented by Asad (26 off 20) and Atil (12 off 6). Imran Ali was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
In Group B, Dawn News batted first after winning the toss and scored 148-4 in 15 overs. Zeeshan Ali Butt played a fiery 51 off 24 balls, Mudassir remained unbeaten on 30 off 37, and Noshad Abbas contributed 16 runs.
SAMAA News struggled in reply, being bowled out for 92 in 12.5 overs. Usman Cheema made 28 runs and Taimoor scored 15, but wickets fell at regular intervals. Dawn News bowlers Mudassir (3-13), Raza (3-26), and Wali Ullah (2-4) were exceptional. Mudassir was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance, leading Dawn News to a comfortable 56-run victory.
