World Contraception Day 2025 Marked in Pakistan
Islamabad :World Contraception Day 2025 in Pakistan carried forward the global message of Made Possible by Family Planning, a campaign that celebrates the countless opportunities, healthier futures, and stronger communities that family planning makes possible. The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (MoNHSR&C), in collaboration with FP2030, UNFPA, Greenstar, and national stakeholders, marked the occasion under the theme “Plan It. Own It: Reproductive Rights for Everyone.” The high-level event brought together government representatives, parliamentarians, youth leaders, health experts, and development partners to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring universal access to contraception and reproductive health services.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem, followed by welcome remarks from the Director General, Population Program Wing, MoNHSR&C. In her address, she emphasized the centrality of family planning and reproductive rights in advancing public health and sustainable development, highlighting that better health, improved education, and stronger economies are all made possible when individuals can make informed choices about their reproductive lives; everything is made possible by family planning.
Representing FP2030, the regional lead commended Pakistan’s progress in expanding access to contraception while calling for renewed urgency to tackle inequities and ensure that no one is left behind. He underlined that family planning is more than a health intervention; it is what makes possible women’s empowerment, leadership, and community resilience.

The keynote address by the Federal Secretary, MoNHSR&C, framed contraception as a fundamental human right, underlining the government’s resolve to uphold reproductive choice and dignity for all. A short video presentation further illustrated the health, social, and economic benefits of family planning, aligning with the Made Possible campaign’s message that every informed choice opens the door to brighter futures for individuals, families, and societies.
Global perspectives shared by FP2030 drew lessons from international best practices, emphasizing that innovative, youth-centered, and rights-based approaches are essential for overcoming persistent barriers to contraceptive access. The Made Possible campaign was echoed in these perspectives, underscoring how collective action and investment in reproductive health enable progress across education, employment, gender equality, and sustainable development.
The panel discussion, moderated by the CEO of Greenstar, featured distinguished speakers including the UNFPA Country Representative, a Member of Parliament, a youth representative, the Vice Chancellor of the Health Services Academy, and senior government officials. The discussion highlighted challenges and opportunities in strengthening family planning through evidence, equity, and innovation. Speakers underscored the importance of inclusive policies, investment in health systems, and the engagement of youth and academia in shaping sustainable solutions.
An interactive session led by an expert from PRHPS addressed myths and misconceptions about contraception, equipping participants with evidence-based knowledge to counter stigma and misinformation.
The event concluded with a call to action and closing remarks by the DG Population Program Wing, MoNHSR&C, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to universal access to family planning services.
