
Engr Amir Muqam inaugurates RISJA Inter-Media Cricket Tournament
Islamabad : Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam, inaugurated the second Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association (RISJA) Inter-media Cricket Tournament here at the National Cricket Ground, F-7.
During his address, Engr Amir Muqam said the event aims to promote sports, mutual brotherhood, and a healthy lifestyle among journalists and social leaders.
He also praised RISJA and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for organizing the tournament, highlighting the crucial role of media in shaping public opinion and national narrative.
He assured government support for sports, education, and journalism initiatives. Muqam emphasized the importance of youth participation in sports for building a positive society.
When asked about the upcoming Asia Cup encounter between India and Pakistan, Muqam confidently predicted Pakistan’s victory, stating they would take revenge.
Engr Amir Muqam said that organizing the second inter-media tournament is proof that you are not only associated with the field of journalism but are also playing your full role in promoting sports, mutual brotherhood, and a healthy lifestyle.
As the Federal Minister, I would like to specially assure you on this occasion that the government is committed to providing all possible support to them in the fields of sports, education, and journalism, he said.

The Ministry of the Inter-Provincial Coordination and Prime Minister Youth Programme is making all-out efforts for the development of sports under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Youth is our bright future and efforts are being made to promote sports culture in the country. Youth should take full part in sports activities, as we have to build a positive society together, he said.
Seeing senior journalist Hamid Mir’s presence in the RISJA tournament, Amir Muqam said the media, plays a central role in shaping public opinion and highlighting the national narrative. He also praised Mir’s work both of journalism and being a sports lover.
The Federal Minister praising the media role during Operation Bunyaan al Marsoos, he lauded the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for a befitting response to India.
Highlighting the government’s achievements, the federal minister hailed the historic defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Ten teams participating in the event, have been divided into two groups. Group A includes Geo TV, Dunya News, CDA, 92 News and Public TV, while Group B includes ARY News, Hum News, Samaa News, Risja and Dawn News.
Each team will play 4 matches in the group level. The group matches will consist of 15 overs, while the knockout round and the final of the event will consist of 20 overs. The final of the event will be played in Islamabad on October 1.
