Pakistan, Ethiopia agree to boost institutional linkages

​Islamabad : Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have agreed to further strengthen their bilateral relations by fostering institutional linkages.
​The crucial discussion to this end took place during a meeting between Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the FDR Ethiopia to Pakistan, and Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
​The two sides reviewed the full spectrum of their bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various areas, including peace and security, climate change, aviation, trade, investment, science and technology, culture, and tourism.

​Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker noted the growing bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries with great satisfaction and admiration, reiterating his commitment to working closely with the Government of Pakistan to further strengthen bilateral relations.
​He underscored the need to strengthen institutional linkages between the two countries to achieve new heights in their bilateral relations.
The Ambassador also briefed the Additional Secretary about the inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, which was built in accordance with the principle of equitable and reasonable utilization of water resources.
​He highlighted the critical role being played by the FDR Ethiopia in regional integration, especially by leading the climate agenda and sharing its resources with neighboring countries and beyond.
​The Additional Secretary appreciated the crucial role the FDR Ethiopia is playing in integrating region especially by sharing its resources with the regional countries.
​Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan said that economic diplomacy is key to strengthening bilateral relations and that Pakistan is committed to its “Look Africa” and “Engage Africa” policies.
The Additional Secretary briefed the Ambassador on the preparations for the 5th Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference & Single Country Exhibition (PATDC & SCE), which is scheduled for October 16–18, 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
