Govt extend all out facilitation to the automotive industries, Rana

Coordinator to PM on Commerce Meets with Heads of Lucky Motor Corporation

Islamabad – The Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, held a fruitful meeting with CEO of Lucky Motor Corporation, to discuss issues related to the automotive Sector. The representatives of Lucky Motor Corporation highlighted that with the current trade liberalization policy of the Government, which will come into effect from the start of Fiscal Year 2026, there was a pressing need for the government to conduct consultations with automotive manufacturers to protect the domestic industry. The need to develop and promote hybrid/electric vehicle policies was also highlighted. Lucky Motor Representatives also raised concerns regarding perceived dumping of used mobile phones in Pakistan.
The Coordinator to the PM on Commerce underscored that tariff liberalization under the IMF program is the economic need of the hour. The Government, however, remains committed to providing a conducive environment for the manufacturing industries, including the Automotive industry. The Coordinator assured the representatives that the Government would extend all out facilitation to the automotive and mobile phone industries for ensuring the ideal policy framework is developed to address the concerns raised in the meeting which balances protection of domestic industries with trade liberalization.

The meeting highlighted the Ministry of Commerce’s commitment towards providing an ideal trade framework for industries in Pakistan.
