UNICEF to safeguard children from all forms of violence, Tarar

UNICEF Delegation Meets Minister for Human Rights to Deepen Collaboration on Child Rights in Pakistan

Islamabad. : A delegation from UNICEF, headed by Country Representative Pernille Ironside, called on Federal Minister for Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, at the Ministry of Human Rights.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation for the promotion and protection of child rights in Pakistan. Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed confidence that Ironside’s stay in Pakistan would be both pleasant and fruitful. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to advancing child rights and building a safe, nurturing environment for every child.
Key areas of discussion included measures for the protection and prevention of child abuse and the formulation of a multi-year work plan with UNICEF to safeguard children from all forms of violence and exploitation.

Pernille Ironside commended the Government of Pakistan for its recent initiatives, particularly the enactment of the Child Marriage Restraint Act and other progressive child protection policies. She reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to continued partnership and support in further strengthening child protection mechanisms across the country.
Both sides agreed to take forward their shared vision through mutual understanding and close coordination to ensure tangible progress for the welfare and protection of children in Pakistan.
