Islamabad — In a significant move, the Senate of Pakistan, under the chairmanship of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, unanimously passed a resolution to celebrate the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ with full national fervor at the official level.
The resolution, tabled by Senator Irfan-ul-Haq Siddiqui, underscored the historic and spiritual importance of the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ and called upon the federal and provincial governments to organize high-profile national events. It urged illumination and decoration of all government, semi-government, and private buildings, as well as key roads, and recommended making the occasion a central theme of nationwide media campaigns.
The resolution further appealed to all government, private, educational, and commercial institutions, along with the media and the public, to promote peace, tolerance, and brotherhood in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The House reaffirmed its commitment to taking all possible measures for the promotion of Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ and called upon the entire nation to observe the occasion with devotion, respect, and national unity.
During the proceedings, President of Anjuman-e-Islamia Multan, Syed Imran-ul-Hassan Gilani, welcomed the resolution and announced that the organization would also arrange special events this year to mark the 1500th Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ. He congratulated Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, Senator Irfan-ul-Haq Siddiqui, and all members of the House on the passage of this historic resolution.
In his remarks, Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said he had also discussed the matter with National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and a similar resolution would soon be passed unanimously in the National Assembly. He expressed hope that the lower house would approve the resolution and convert it into law, adding that it was a matter of great honor for the Senate to have unanimously passed a resolution on such a momentous occasion — marking 1500 years since the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
