Islamabad : National Commission on the Status of Women NCSW, Islamabad proudly marked Pakistan’s 78th #IndependenceDay with a heartfelt celebration at its Secretariat.
Chairperson Ume-Laila Azhar was joined by Shaheen Sardar Ali, the first Chairperson of NCSW, for a special cake-cutting ceremony honouring the Commission’s journey and achievements. Both leaders commended the tireless efforts of the NCSW team and inspired them to continue advancing the #empowerment and well-being of women across #Pakistan.
Reflecting on NCSW’s legacy, Shaheen Sardar Ali shared:
“Today is a day of overwhelming joy. NCSW stands strong with many achievements — from successfully amending key laws to making lasting impacts on the lives of #women in Pakistan. Each chairperson’s tenure has been a building block in this progress.”
Chairperson Ume-Laila Azhar expressed her deep appreciation for Madam Shaheen’s presence and wisdom, urging all NCSW officials to:
“Pledge today to work with honesty, dedication, zeal, and zest — developing strategies that strengthen the women and communities of Pakistan.”
She also extended sincere thanks to the United Nations consortium partners — UNDP Pakistan, UN Women Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan, and UNFPA Pakistan — whose expertise and collaboration have played a pivotal role in NCSW’s institutional strengthening and strategic development.
