Islamabad; Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that August 5, 2019, serves as a painful reminder of India’s unilateral and illegal revocation of the special status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which constitutes a blatant violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions and international law.
He stated that the Indian action was a deliberate attempt to suppress the just and legitimate demand of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination—an attempt that was unequivocally rejected by the people of Kashmir. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq added that the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(A) of the Indian Constitution was aimed at altering the demography of the region, thereby undermining the Kashmiri identity and stripping them of their land and ownership rights.
He emphasized that Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir is not only a moment to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir but also a reaffirmation of resistance against Indian aggression. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq noted that the people of IIOJK have endured more than seven decades of relentless Indian oppression, violence, and brutality, and continue to stand firm and resolute in their struggle for freedom. He reiterated that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan, and the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just struggle for self-determination.
He further warned that the ongoing Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability. NA Speaker condemned the violence inflicted on women, children, and the elderly, calling it a moral challenge for the global conscience. He emphasized that the Kashmir issue is basically linked to human rights, freedom, and justice—and can no longer be ignored by the international community.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq underscored that Pakistan has consistently raised its voice at all international forums in support of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. He recalled that the National Assembly of Pakistan has passed numerous resolutions in support of the Kashmiri cause and in condemnation of Indian atrocities. He further stated that Pakistan is actively using diplomatic, political, and parliamentary channels, including the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, to highlight the Kashmir issue globally. He called on the international community to take concrete and meaningful steps to halt human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and ensure a just and lasting resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also drew attention to the ongoing media blackouts in IIOJK, which he termed as yet another tool of Indian repression, aimed at silencing the voices of innocent and victimized Kashmiris and hiding the truth from the world.
On this occasion, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah expressed unwavering solidarity with the Kashmiri people. He stated that Indian atrocities have failed to crush the resolve and determination of the Kashmiri people, who continue their struggle for the right to self-determination with unyielding courage. Condemning the revocation of Articles 370 and 35(A) from the Indian Constitution by the Fascist Modi Government, he highlighted India’s continued and systematic violations of human rights in IIOJK. He urged the international community to play a decisive and practical role in resolving the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Resolution, international law and the will of the Kashmiri people.
